The son of NBA superstar LeBron James made history when his rookie jersey, numbered 9, sold over 500,000 units. Remarkably, Bronny James jersey outsold his father’s rookie jersey, even though LeBron was the number one overall draft pick in the 2003 NBA draft. Lebron James took the world by storm by being crowned the king before he ever played an NBA game. He averaged over 20 points a game his rookie season while earning “Rookie of the Year” honors.
Bronny James’ NBA career hasn’t started as impressive as his father’s. Drafted 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers, Bronny was quickly assigned to the Lakers affiliate team, (South Bay Lakers). Bronny hasn’t made the significant impact that his father made in his young NBA season. Some people believe he was drafted solely because of his father. However, considering that the NBA is a business, using the 55th pick to draft Bronny could still be viewed as a smart move.
