At Black Perspective News, we acknowledge and celebrate Kwanzaa, a week-long celebration of Afro-American culture that was created by Maulana Ron Karenga in 1966. Kwanzaa is centered around seven principles:

2. Kujichagulia (Self-determination)
3. Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
4. Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
5. Nia (Purpose)
6. Kuumba (Creativity)
7. Imani (Faith)

These principles guide the celebration and reinforce the values of community and culture.
