The Detroit Pistons have now tied for the longest losing streak in the NBA by losing 26 straight games, including their recent match against the Brooklyn Nets where they were defeated 126-115. The Pistons have now joined the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers for the record. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 26, where they will be playing at home against the Nets. If they lose this game, they will hold the new record for the longest losing streak in NBA history.
Head coach Monty Williams is in the first year of a 6-year 78 million dollar deal. The Pistons is one of the youngest teams in the NBA with most of their players younger than 25 years old. Coach Monty Williams took the blame for the losing streak but in reality, the team’s lack of experience is the problem. Monty Williams’s former player Mikal Bridges who now plays for the Brooklyn Nets said he feels bad for the former coach. I just hope he doesn’t feel so bad that he doesn’t do his job Tuesday night.
